Peyton Davis-Schmit, BS CSW
Certified Social Worker/Therapist
Peyton Davis-Schmit, BS CSW (she/her) is completing her advanced practicum at Kindred Psychology for her Master of Social Work degree through Nebraska Wesleyan University’s trauma-conscious Social Work Program (CSWE-accredited). In May of 2023, Peyton graduated with highest distinction from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work with a minor in Gender Studies. She is supervised by Rachel Oxley, MSW LICSW.
Peyton first joined the Kindred Psychology Team in January 2023 for her undergraduate practicum with Nebraska Wesleyan, which transitioned into part-time work as a Client Care Coordinator while she attends graduate school.
In her time at Nebraska Wesleyan, Peyton has recognized that change and healing happen within the context of relationships. She strives to foster authentic and non-judgmental connections with clients that are fueled by curiosity. It is through these connections that Peyton walks alongside clients on their journey of self discovery, growth, and healing. Peyton has a passion for working with youth and adolescents to help them carve out their space in the world, even when it feels scary and, at times, impossible.
Peyton utilizes an eclectic approach, drawing from a variety of evidence-based practices. She finds herself most frequently drawn to mindfulness and creative modalities while working to center the autonomy of the client at all points in the working relationship. In sessions with youth and adolescents, Peyton often works on the following:
- Emotional intelligence and regulation
- Identity and self-esteem
- Anxiety and depression
- Anger management
- Problem solving
- Understanding family dynamics
- Creating and maintaining friendships
For the past five years, Peyton has also worked as a dance instructor for children of all ages. This experience, alongside her academic foundation and other professional training, has allowed Peyton to develop the tools necessary in fostering creative and supportive environments for youth. If you are interested in having your child work with Peyton, request an appointment to get started. Parents of youth are also welcome to meet for an initial consultation – without the child – to determine if therapy with Peyton is a good fit for them and your family’s needs.
Peyton accepts clients pro-bono or on a sliding scale basis as she is not yet in-network with insurance companies. Please contact our Client Coordination Team for more information.
