Erika Cuevas, MSW PLMHP PCMSW
Erika Cuevas, MSW PLMHP PCMSW (she/her) received her Master of Social Work degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2025 after completing internship at Kindred Psychology. Erika’s approach to therapy is rooted in trauma-informed care and cultural competency, with a strong belief in the unique intersectionality of each individual’s experiences. She is supervised by Rachel Oxley, MSW LICSW.Prior to entering into social work, Erika graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Illinois Chicago. Originally from Chicago, Erika moved to Lincoln with her long-term partner. Having grown up in a large, diverse city, she was drawn to Kindred Psychology’s inclusive and welcoming environment, which reflects the same diversity she values so much. As a member of both the LGBTQIA+ and Latinx communities, Erika is deeply committed to supporting those in her own communities while also expanding her understanding to serve individuals from all backgrounds with greater empathy and insight.
As part of her practicum at NWU, Erika worked with immigrant and refugee families at Lincoln Literacy, teaching English to Spanish-speakers and helping adults navigate career searches. This experience, coupled with Erika’s dedication to service, informs the ways in which she works with clients in the therapeutic space. Erika’s style not only centers the client in her care, but is deeply empathetic and patient, utilizing a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches. Erika enjoys working with both adolescents and adults on a variety of issues, particularly navigating identity development, life changes, PTSD, and anxiety and mood disorders.
Outside of her work, Erika enjoys spending time in nature, roller skating, caring for her plants, reading murder mystery novels, visiting family, and indulging in sweet treats whenever possible.
Erika sees clients under the supervision of Rachel Oxley, MSW LICSW. As such, she is covered as an in-network provider under her supervisor with most major health plans, including United Healthcare and affiliates, Cigna, and Midland’s Choice. Erika is directly contracted with BCBS and Nebraska Medicaid managed care plans.
Erika can also see clients on a self-pay basis. Our Client Coordination Team can provide you with more information about this option if you are interested; just write “self-pay” in the corresponding field when submitting your service request!
