Courtney Leikam, MA

Office Coordinator / Programs Director

Courtney (she/her/hers) plays a vital role at Kindred Psychology, serving as an extension of the therapeutic experience for many clients. Among other things, she is responsible for matching clients with the right clinicians, which optimizes client experiences and outcomes. She also supervises the Client Coordination Team in all new client communication and onboarding processes.

On any given day, you’ll find Courtney simultaneously managing provider schedules, communicating with clients, corresponding with insurance companies and billing staff, collaborating with community organizations in advocacy efforts, and generally keeping everything in order where non-clinical client details are concerned. Courtney possesses strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a sharp attention to detail. We owe a substantial part of our efficiency as a practice to Courtney’s dedication to supporting us all.

Courtney’s broad background includes a Master’s degree from UNL in Modern Languages and Literatures (German, to be specific), a graduate certificate in TESOL, and a specialization in Women’s and Gender Studies. She has taught English to adolescents in Germany through a Fulbright Grant, and frequently lectures part-time for the German Section at UNL. With her strong teaching background as well as her interest and experience in Gender Studies and advocacy, Courtney is responsible for further developing the educational portions of our burgeoning Gender Programs at Kindred Psychology. She completed the Transgender Training Institute’s Training of Trainers in December 2019, and has since conducted trainings for several local organizations. If you or your team are interested in a presentation or training, please send Courtney an email, or fill out a service request with your training needs!

When meeting her or talking with her on the phone, you’ll notice Courtney has a subtle and yet expansive spirit about her. She is both crystal clear about her opinions and also gentle in the expression of them. Courtney is dedicated to building a welcoming, comfortable environment for clients, from cultivating the music playing in the waiting room to interspersing gifted (or often homemade) affirming decorations around the office.
