Sarah Cal, M.Ed
Therapist/Counselor
Sarah Cal (she/her) is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Joining Kindred Psychology in January 2025 as a student clinician, Sarah is committed to supporting gender-diverse individuals and other members of the LGBTQ+ community as they navigate anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Sarah also works with the overlap of neurodivergence and gender identity, and has experience supporting individuals with ADHD and Autism Spectrum diagnoses. As a neurodivergent person herself, Sarah offers a personal understanding of shared struggles while also recognizing and honoring the uniqueness of each individual in her care. She is supervised by Courtney Yoachim, MA LIMHP.
Sarah’s personal values of inclusion and advocacy not only reflect those of Kindred Psychology, but serve as a framework for her practice. Acting as a safe haven for clients, Sarah is accessible, responsive, and engaged in the process of transformation. Sarah’s approach with clients not only centers them as changemakers in their own lives, but also honors that change happens collaboratively; Sarah is fully present with her clients at every step of the way. Prioritizing the therapeutic relationship, Sarah cultivates a space where individuals can express all parts of themselves. Grounded in neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-conscious approaches, Sarah often utilizes an Emotion-Focused Therapy framework, which emphasizes the role of emotions as the primary organizer of our inner worlds.
Prior to her counseling career, Sarah earned a Bachelor of Education and Human Science in Art Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College. With fifteen years of teaching experience across various educational settings—including middle school, college, and alternative education—Sarah has learned to utilize creativity, social justice, and advocacy to help individuals create positive change in their lives.
Sarah accepts clients pro-bono or on a sliding scale basis as she is not yet in-network with insurance companies. Please contact our Client Coordination Team for more information.
